Welcome! My intention is that through sharing your stories of the women who have made a significant difference in your life, you will make a significant difference in the lives of others. Unlike the women in our book, Women Marked for History, the women that you share about can be alive today.

Here are some tips:

• You don’t have to be a great writer to share a story. The love and gratitude that you feel will speak louder than the words that you write.

• Keep it simple! The share should be written in everyday language straight from your heart.

Phil and I hope that by writing in these pages you will start looking more closely in your life at many other women that are impacting you in the here and now. Please come back and share another story!

2015 New Mexico Heritage Preservation Award for Individual Achievement
On May 8, 2015, the authors, Phil and Rosanne Archuletta were honored along with a group of other leaders from throughout New Mexico at the 43rd annual Heritage Preservation Awards. The awards are given by the Historic Preservation Division of the Department of Cultural Affairs. They received the award for Individual Achievement because of their publications, as well as their willingness and enthusiasm to do outreach through personal appearances. They travel throughout the southwest and beyond telling the stories of the women honored by the New Mexico Historic markers.

You see them on almost every road trip. Highway signs and mile markers named after people who apparently did something to earn these distinctions. Most of the time you drive by so quickly that little more than the names register. But if you've been through New Mexico, you may also have noticed that many of the historical markers honor women. Women Marked for History fills in the details on the stories behind the names. There are rich and poor, military and civilian, mothers, wives and daughters, but all in some way contributed to the betterment of their communities and their state.
